Wiper seals fit around the front steering ball joint to protect the tractor joint and stop gear oil leaking out.   Fitting these takes less than an hour.  You can make a 45° degree cut through the seal idealy with a very sharp knife or a band saw.  Remove as little material as possible.  When fitting to the truck position the cut at the top.  The 45° cut will seal up once the clamp plate is secured and the oil level sits well below the cut.
Be carful when doing up the clamping plate.  The bolts do break easily so if meeting any resistance better to run a tap down the hole.
